Cyndy Violette: From the Kitchen Table to Casinos
Cyndy Violette was a native of Queens, New York. However, when she was 12, Cyndy and her family relocated to Las Vegas. Playing cards on their kitchen table with her uncle was her favorite pastime.
Cyndy's first taste of serious poker playing in a casino was during her pregnancy with her daughter.
While in Las Vegas, Cyndy worked as a blackjack and poker dealer for a while. She participated at the 1984 Lake Tahoe Poker Tournament and had made some money for her bankroll. It was clear that Cyndy needed to take a step further and work her skill to it full potential in order to participate in the bigger leagues.
Cyndy was able to participate at the Golden Nugget Tournament, winning $ 74,000 at the 7-card Stud event. Her victory was featured on one of Playboy Magazine's articles. During this time, she met her second husband and decided to take a break for 2 years in order to fulfill her duties to her family.
In 1990, Cyndy went to Caesars Palace and found herself regaining her interest on poker. She, then, joined a poker tournament in the casino and won a cash prize of $ 62,000. From then on, she got back to playing her favorite game of poker and participated in tournaments again. Cyndy spent most of her time in Las Vegas and Los Angeles in order to play at the poker tables there. At the same time, Cyndy was maintaining a house in Washington State.
In 1993, Cyndy and her husband got divorced, and at the same time she heard the news about poker being legalized in Atlantic City. She went to Atlantic City and spent her summer at the Taj Mahal Hotel and Casino. In 1994, Cyndy opened up a store and bought a house in the Atlantic City area. It was a perfect timing to relocate and enjoy her new found healthy way of living.
It was in 2004 that Cyndy made her dream into reality when she won at the 7-card Stud Hi/Lo event of the World Series Of Poker. She won her WSOP bracelet and the title of Poker Champion.
Cyndy made it on three tables of the 2005 World Series Of Poker. She was featured on Fox Sports' "The Superstars of Poker", the Game Show Network's "Poker Royale Pro/Celebrity Tournament" and on ESPN's World Series Of Poker.
Currently, Cyndy Violette spends most of her time living in Los Angeles and Las Vegas where she participates in cash games and major poker tourneys. She also juggles in her poker-oriented inspirational and clothing line.
